In network marketing capital is not what matters. Your money does not buy you a future. It is your skills. You may have money but if you do not have any skills in networking you are still poor. If you have money but do not have ambition then where are you? If you have money and yet you have no courage you are broke.
The Philosophy of Courage
Hey, this deserves to be a philosophy. A little bit of money and a whole lot of courage is what you need in network marketing. Let’s give this another name affiliate marketing. I do not like the MLM name.
I am looking for people, I am recruiting. Here is what I am looking for. The money does not matter. What matters to me is somebody’s willingness, somebody’s ingenuity, somebody’s willingness to try. If you have a £1 to invest I tell you that is plenty for me. A £1 and some ambition and I can show you how to get rich. It will be a classic story.
I go out recruiting and a guy says to me, “I don’t have any money”. I say, “I have been looking for you for six months. Let me tell you how to do it without any money”. Here are the rules of capitalism. You can buy and sell or if you are in certain circumstances you can sell and buy. If you have got ambition. If you haven’t got any ambition I can’t help you. And by the way money won’t cure that. Money won’t cure lack of ambition.
If you’ve got a £1 and some ambition then we can work together. I will show you how to get rich. Even if you don’t have a £1 and you have ambition, I can show you how to get rich because you can sell and buy. If you say, “As soon as the product arrives I will sell it”, then you do not understand the magic of fortune. You say to yourself that you have to wait until the product arrives before you can sell it. This gets hard. You do not even understand the value of your own time.
I like Jim Rohn. When he understood that you can get rich by selling then buying, he knew instinctively that he was going to be wealthy. From his early days he gave big tips because he knew he was going to be wealthy. Tip like a rich man. Get into the mind set. Act like you are there already. It helps your confidence. Working with the Deserving
Right here is a experience that is hard to follow for many Christians. We want to help those in need. In my early times in networking I saw my brothers and sisters who needed help and thought in my excitement they would see the fantastic opportunity I saw. I persuaded many to sign up. I helped them with transport to the meetings, I loaned them money so they could move up a level. We soon had a team of 70 strong and growing. I nearly died in the process.
The Philosophy of Working with the Deserving
I had to learn in the skills of building an organization to work with those who deserved the opportunity not the people who needed it. You must be like life itself and respond to need. Following on the teachings of the Master, it does not say that if you need you will have a harvest. It doesn’t say that if you need a harvest you will have a harvest. It says that if you plant chances are good you will have a harvest. If you plant you will reap. Not if you need you will reap. So in networking we must be like life itself and respond to the people who deserve it by planting, by taking the first step. God teaches us that if we move towards Him He will move towards us. That is the condition. ‘You move towards me, I will move towards you’. Says the Almighty.
Learn to work with those who deserve it rather than those who need it. Here is the next step. Teach people how to deserve your time. Teach people how to deserve your attention. Teach people how to deserve a phone call. “Hey, Mary you take this one step I will take two steps. You take two steps I will take five steps. You don’t step, I don’t step. This is not hard. You step, I step. You respond, I respond. You try, I try. You make a call, I back you up”.
I had to learn to teach people how to deserve my time and my attention. Next. Learn to work with your group more than the individual. The reason is simple. 80% of the people do 20% of the work. 20% of the people do 80% of the business. Therefore 20% of the people you work with them individually, the 80% you work with them as a group.
The Philosophy of Helping the Many
The group is very powerful, less confrontational. As a sponsor here is another important principle. You can help a thousand but you can’t carry three on your back. Some people will try and get on your back. You know the expression, “Get off my back”. A guy discovered someone on his back and said, “Get off my back. I can’t carry you get of my back”.
You could possibly carry one or two but you cannot carry three. When babies are born they are not designed just to be carried. Babies where not designed to be carried all their lives. Someday you have to try the legs. Someday you have to try your wings. Someday you have to try. even if you fall down you have to try. You can’t just crawl around all you life. You can’t be carried all your life. You can help a thousand but you can’t carry three.
Do not expect the pear tree to bear apples. You can try and change everything. You cannot change people, but they can change themselves. You cannot change people, but they can change themselves. Incredible!

Communication
Networking implies communication. How to conduct a meeting. Learn identification. Logic and reasoning. Attack and confess. Solution. Simple deals on communication. It will not be easy. You may stand up to give your first presentation your mind will sit down. Open your mouth and nothing comes out. Here is what you do. Do it again. You will get there. Even if it takes thirty to forty five years. You will get there, just do it again.
Your first presentation will be lousy. The people might feel like going home. Don’t worry about it. Do it again, and do it again, and do it again, and do it again. That is the secret. Doing something for the first time. You learn quickly in this business.
The Philosophy of Communication
A guy stands up to give his first testimonial and he forgets his own name. Thirty days later he wants to give a three hour testimonial. You can hardly get him of the stage. Learn to communicate. How to affect people with words. It is the greatest art in the world. Affect other people with words.
Don’t be lazy in language. If you learn to use the gift of your own language wisely it can make you a fortune and build you an incredible life.
Training, learning to train people how the business works. Teach, teaching people how life works. Here are the tools we need for today’s information age. Business skill and life skills. The life skill are leadership skills, learning how to set goals. Finally the ultimate skill to acquire is learning to inspire. The skill to learn to transform your life and the life of whoever will listen. The ability to inspire. Inspire means to help people to look up. A little higher than where they are and wish they can get there. Inspire them that it is possible.
In network marketing we inspire by our own testimonial. I can do it, you can do it. Here is another way to inspire. By other peoples’ testimonials. “If they can do it, Mary you can do it”. Getting people to see themselves better than they are. Getting people to see themselves richer than they are. Getting people to see themselves more capable next year than they are this year. Getting people to see themselves in the future.
To help people and your kids, here is what you must do. Help people to see themselves as they are. People have made mistakes, they have to know it. They can’t carry on making mistakes. To achieve mistakes have to be corrected. you got to do it with your children. Help them to see themselves as they are. If they have messed up. You got to say, “You have messed up”. As a parent here is what is important. Don’t leave them in the mess. Some parents tell their kids they have messed up and leave them in the mess. They don’t paint a better picture. You can show them what they can become with just a few changes. Rather than this here is what you can be.
We must help our children see themselves as the are but the greater thing is to help them see what they can become. To transport them to their past to see what they have become but to transport them to the future to show them what they an become. To see the person they can become. I could never visualize myself as a successful man of influence but my mentors are making me see that all things are possible if I believe. Master the skill to inspire.

Let’s Go Do It
The next skill that you got to have in network marketing to be successful is organizing. Getting people to work together is magic. This is challenging. Getting members of the same family to work together is challenging. When it works it’s magic. Getting a wife and husband to work together is challenging but its a miracle when it happens. Everything magic is challenging. Once you figure out the challenging go for it because then the magic happens.
Philosophy of a Common Purpose
I like the Bible. “If two or three agree on a common purpose nothing is impossible” Try that on for your mental size. Do you want a challenge. ‘Let’s go do it’. Not you go do it. ‘Let’s go do it’. If two or three of us decide on a common purpose nothing is impossible. Incredible. Working together, organizing.
We are independent. We each have our own opinions. We have our own ambitions and desires. It is going to be challenging. You got a variety. That is what makes life. The variety. In network marketing it is like herding cats. Sheep are easy. Try cats. If you can make it happen the power is so immense.
The power of working together. Shared testimonials. If I have somebody new and you are there and I am there. I give my testimony and you give yours. Perhaps what tips the scale in me getting a new person is not my testimony but yours. My partners testimonial. Shared testimonials are so powerful. Working together is powerful. Working by yourself is OK. All this stuff is OK. Everybody needs to to know where are the advantages. Learn to organize. It pays big money.
Philosophy of Promotion
The next philosophy is promote. Promotion pays staggering money. The corporation comes up with major promotions. You and I have to come up with the minor promotions. The company comes up with major recognitions you have to come up with minor recognitions, for your people around you. The top five. The company recognises the top five you and I have our own top five. In different categories. Those little recognitions when achieved are major steps in achievement.
A major secret of success is in rewarding people for little steps of achievement. Rewarding people. Sometimes it’s small things. Recognition. A handshake, a pat on the back. “Thank you for doing a fabulous job”. Small steps of progress.
Promotion pays big money. Getting people to do things they would not ordinarily do by themselves. People will do some unique things by themselves. But if you can figure out a way to say, “Hey, Mary if you do this then I will do that for you”, and you get something done that would never have been done. It’s magic. She would not have thought of that on her own.
Here is what works. It is better than money. Here is what is more important than money. Ingenuity. The best place to wake up your ingenuity is in network marketing. Representing products that you believe in and sharing them to others, getting customers recruiting, promoting and all of that. Ingenuity, figuring out a way. If it doesn’t work this way we will do it another way. I use my ingenuity and believe me I am making a fortune.
The spring campaign and the summer campaign. This week we are going to recruit school teachers. How many have you got. how many have you got. This is school teacher week. This is school teacher month. Pick a little category and say, “Let’s go for it”. It does not matter what it is just dream up something. So that somebody has a little more objective to go for it.
We all need to belong to something bigger than ourselves. We furnish inspiration for something bigger and the bigger furnishes inspiration for us.

Service to Many Leads to Greatness
Service to many leads to greatness. Some people are interested in this. Some people are not. Somebody says, “Best I can do is take care of myself”. That’s OK, but it does not lead to greatness. Another says, “I’ve got enough bills of my own. I don’t need to take care of another person’s bills.” That’s OK, but it does not lead to greatness. Greatness is helping people pay their bills. You forget about yours! Because if you help enough people pay their bills, yours disappear. If you help people with problems, then your problems disappear.
The Master Teacher taught that the key to greatness is finding a way. Lots of people want to serve many people but they do not have a way. What is exciting about Success University is that it provides a way. Whether you use it or not is up to you. Whether you cash it in or not is up to you. Whether you make a fortune or just a little is all up to you. Each person’s ambition is different in this level marketing plan where the product is education. Each person’s philosophy is different. Whatever your ambition level, now you have the means. What you have to do is to serve as many people as you would like to.
Here is the exciting part. You can directly and indirectly affect the lives of dozens of people. Some of you are going to directly and indirectly affect the lives of hundreds of people. And some of you, if you wish, are going to directly and indirectly affect the lives of thousands of people. And the pay is accordingly. If you affect a few you get paid accordingly. If you affect many, you get paid accordingly.
The secret is found in the Bible. Service to many leads to greatness. John Kennedy said, “Don’t ask what the people can do for you. Don’t ask what the country can do for you. Don’t ask what the government can do for you.” That is not how you get rich. That is not how you have high self esteem. That is not how you get trophies to put on the mantle piece. Asking what the people can do for you. ” Don’t ask what the people can do for you. But ask what could I do for my country.” And the country means people. What can I do for the people?
I like trophies. I like high self esteem. I would even like to make a fortune. What can I do for my people? Can I directly or indirectly affect the lives of thousands. If you participate in the programs we have to offer, the answer is YES.
Zig Ziglar put it very frankly. “Money isn’t everything but it ranks right up there with oxygen”. Here is another – “If you help enough people get what they want, you can have everything you want.” Wanting everything you want we call ’self interest’. It is OK to have self interest if you do it in a positive way, by helping enough people get what they want. In that way you can have everything you want.

Networking Skills
You need certain skills to do network marketing. You may know your job well. But remember it just pays the rent and a little extra in exchange for your most precious commodity, your time. You need new skills to change your life – like getting a customer and making a sale. Sales in network marketing is not technical. We simply represent our product. The systems, the distribution etc. is taken care of by the corporation.
Philosophy of Sales in Network Marketing
We share a unique product. We talk about its merits. Persuade someone that it is the best. They agree to buy. That is simply the art of sale. In our business it is more like sharing. We use the products ourselves. We gather some testimonials. We simple share that. We are not talking about high powered spacecraft technical skills here. We simple share something we have discovered with someone else, and doing it well enough to where they agree they would like to participate.
In the process of networking, when you learn sales it will multiply your income by five. Sales is laying that foundation for an entrepreneurial career.
Philosophy of Recruiting in Network Marketing
The next skill you have to learn is recruiting. Recruiting requires learning 1.How to give a good invitation. 2.Learning how to give two types of presentations, formal and informal. 3.Following up. When you start a new life in networking, you have to take care of it, like the parent of a child. You don’t start a new life and abandon it. You start a new life and nourish it and protect it.
Nourishment is ideas, information etc. Protection is helping to defend your new life against encroachment. There are going to be outside voices that will try and talk them out of it. You’ve got to be both mother and father in the art of recruiting. We call it being a sponsor.
Being a sponsor is like being a bridge, helping someone from darkness to light, from skeptic to faithful, from not knowing to knowing, from no confidence in themselves to confidence. You are the bridge that helps people, from the shadows to the sunlight. It is one of the most exciting positions to occupy in the network marketing industry. You help people to cross from discouragement into recognition. Being this bridge is what this recruiting magic is all about.
You’ve got the answers they have been looking for. You see something in them before they can see it in themselves. You assure them that it is possible to be more than they are. Therefore they can earn more than they do. They can have more than they possess. This is one of the greatest arts in the world. And here is what is exciting about this art – it pays big money.
Now you are operating a principle first taught in the Bible. John Kennedy taught it in his inaugural speech. Zig Ziglar taught it in ‘Secrets to Wealth’. This secret to wealth and fortune that was first taught in the Bible is this. The question was asked to the Master Teacher “How can we achieve great wealth, great influence, great power, great recognition, great self esteem?” Here was His formula for achieving personal greatness. He said, “Find a way to serve the many. For service to many leads to greatness.” Some people are interested. Some people are not interested. For those that are – SERVICE TO MANY LEADS TO GREATNESS.

The Law of Reaping
You’ve got to learn to co operate with the way things are. The seasons are established in this world. You can say, “It shouldn’t be that way.” Well, when you get your own planet you can re arrange things. On this planet you are a guest. You take it as it comes.
The secret to the ambitious sower with the good seed is in the fact that he kept on sowing. He kept on sowing. Here is what he had to do to keep on sowing. He had to discipline his disappointment. This is key. You will be disappointed with results from people in network marketing. You must learn to discipline your disappointment. You did not set up the set up and some are not going to stay. That is not of your making. If you made gross errors and you ran them off that is different and you are responsible for that. But if it is the normal course of things this is how things are.
The sower keeps on sowing. Some seed falls on thorny ground. You can ask, “How much of this stuff do you have to go through”. Hang on. It is not the end of the story. The little seed falls on thorny ground and the little plant starts to grow again. But as the little plant starts to grow the thorns choke it to death. The plant dies. In network marketing the thorns are going to get some. That also is not of your making.
What are these thorns? The story calls them little cares, little distractions, little something’s. Who knows what they all are. I say to John, “John we had a meeting last night and you where not there.” John says to me, “I can’t make it to every meeting.” I say, “Why not? You are part time”. He says, “The screen door came of the hinges. You just can’t let your house fall apart. You got to take some time off and fix things up. Some extra trash is piling up in the garage. You can’t let mountains of trash take over. You got to keep your trash thrown out.
What can you do about people who let little things cheat them out of big opportunities? What can you do? You feel almost helpless. What can I do about this? Nothing! You may ask, “Why is this”? Hey, don’t sign up for that class? Don’t go for the ‘The why is class’ it is just the way things are. Like winter following fall and spring following winter. Learn this. The thorns are going to get some.
Philosophy of Keeping on Sowing
Here is the good news. The rest of the story. The sower keeps on sowing the seed. Keeps on sharing the story. Keeps on giving the invitation. Yes the invitation can be more powerful when you are succeeding than when when you first start your network marketing. Your invitation is more powerful when you can say, “I am making twice as much money part time than I make at my full time job. The invitation gets more powerful with success but the law of averages is still at work.
Finally the seed falls on good ground. (It always will). If you keep sowing there will be results. If you share a good idea long enough it will fall on good people. Let’s continue with the story. Some of the good ground did 30%. Some of the good ground did 60%. And some of the good ground did 100%. You ask, “Why the difference in numbers?” I would not sign up for that class. Don’t register for that class. It’s just the way it is.
You can try to make the thirties to do sixty, It will be more than you can handle. You cannot make someone successful who has not got it. You will die in the process. You must not even try. Let the thirties do 30% to the best of their ability and keep doing 30% because that is how they build their lifestyle, and get what they want out of life. Let the sixties do 60% and let the one hundreds do 100%.
How can you get some to do 100%? You got to go through all these experiences. You got to talk to all these people. Have you got it?

The Law of Sowing
I am learning the law of sowing and reaping. The story is found in the Bible. It is also the law of averages. 1.The sower was ambitious. That becomes clear when you read the whole story. 2.He had excellent seed. The sower who sowed the seed had excellent seed. Excellent seed can be an excellent opportunity and, or excellent products. We have an ambitious sower with excellent seed.
For the drama of my life learning these laws will make me rich like those who have gone before me. The sower goes out to sow, some of the seeds fall by the wayside and the birds get the seed. When I go out and share opportunity the birds are going to get some. How does this pan out in reality.
I invite John to a meeting. He says he will be there, Tuesday night. Tuesday night, I show up, John isn’t there. I say to myself. “I wander why John didn’t make it?” Aha, the birds got John. The birds. John had this great idea to come to a meeting to look at an opportunity and somebody stalled it. “Hey, you not going to go to see network marketing?” And he says, “Well, maybe not.”
Philosophy towards those that don’t Get It.
The birds are going to get some. When the birds get some you have two options. 1.You can chase the birds. You can say, “Let me get to the guy that told him not to come. I’ll tear him a new page.” Do not do that. Here is what happens when you go chasing birds. You leave the field. If you go chasing birds you leave the field. Which is going to subtract from your future not add. You can’t chase birds and try to straighten things out. It is just one of those things.
When things are a little disappointing here is the best comment, “Isn’t that interesting?” You can think that John was going to come to the meeting. He promised me. He promised me. But the best thing to do is say to yourself, “Isn’t that interesting?”
Here is the secret to the success of the sower. He kept on sowing. And if you keep sowing you are going to get more coming in because there aren’t enough birds out there. Just keep on sowing. There are some birds but keep on sowing. The law of averages is going to work for you
A mentor once told Jim Rohn that they were only nine or ten really nasty people in the world. They move around a lot and you a liable to meet one of them. You will bump into them once in a while. If you bump into one you can say, “There is only nine others like you. I can handle that.” Learn to handle rejection.
The sower keeps on sowing and the seed falls on rocky ground where the soil is shallow. Hey, the rocky ground where the soil is shallow is not of your making. You have excellent seed and you are an ambitious sower. This time the seed starts to grow, the little plant starts to grow. But the first hot day, it withers and dies. This is not an easy thing to watch.
Philosophy towards those that don’t Stay
I finally get John started. Sure enough someone says, “Boo!” He is gone. He doesn’t show up at the second meeting. I thought sure, John would at least last a week. What happened? The hot weather is going to get some. This is not of your making. Here is what you must say. “Isn’t that interesting? Wow.” What can you do? The answer is nothing. You can try and change things. Don’t take that class.
The sun comes out in the east and someone say, “Why is that?” I would not spend much time on that. Just let that happen. Don’t go for this why, why, why, stuff. Stuff happens. The answer is in the structure. The consequences is in the deal. Study the deal. Anything beyond that is not worth studying.
“How come some just last a little while?” I would not sign up for that class. Here is the answer, “SOME DON’T STAY”. When someone leaves he is just one on of those that don’t stay. Now you know what category to put them. You can’t solve this thing. It’s like rearranging the seasons. you can’t fool with that. All you can do is co operate with the way things are set up. The Law of Averages
If you do something long enough a ratio will appear. It is an amazing principle in network marketing. If you talk to ten people one says, ‘Yes.’ A ratio has begun. 1 out of 10. Talk to 10 and 1 gets in. Once the law of averages begins it tends to continue. Once a ratio starts it tends to continue. Talk to 10 and 1 gets in. Sure enough if you talk to ten more one will get in.
Philosophy of Just Do It
Now you can compete, even with one who can get 9 out of 10, you can compete. If you have been in business for a long time you can get 9 out of ten. But for me who has just begun I can get 1 out of ten. If we have a thirty day contest I will beat you. How can you beat a guy who gets 9 out of 10. Simple, in those thirty day he talks to 10 and gets 9, but you talk to 100 and get 10. You have beaten the competition
I do this for two reasons. I sincerely wish to win. The other sincere reason is that I wish for you to loose. This is a noble goal on my part. Here is why it is noble. You learn more by loosing than by winning. So I wish to give you that experience.
I am new in network marketing. Therefore I make up in numbers what I lack in skill. Who can do this? Anybody that is ambitious and wants success. Anybody with a little ingenuity. Anybody. It does not matter.
Philosophy of Getting Better
The law of averages can be increased. 1 out of 10. Talk to 10 get 1, talk to 10 get 1, talk to 10 get 1, the fourth time you talk to 10 you get 2. What happens the fourth time is that you are getting better. Wow, can anybody do this? Yes, anybody that is ambitious and wants to change his lifestyle.
Who can get better? Anybody. Talk to 10 get 2, talk to 10 get 2 talk to 10 get 2, finally talk to 10 get 3. It take more than a genius to get past 3, but 3 is fantastic. 3 will do. It also means you are out 7 times out of 10. You got to have stamina, you got to learn to deal with rejection. Success requires that you can handle rejection. I am rejection proof. Make £2,000,000 a year by getting reject 7 out of 10 times, that is network marketing. It is a home based business dealing with people, it is a numbers game. I am ready for this.
You do not have to bat 1,000 to make big money. 1out of 10 is fine, 2 out of 10 is great and 3 out of 10 is out of this world money. Do you want to make money? Some genius may get 4 people out of 10 but 3 out of 10 is sufficient to make you rich beyond your wildest imagination.
Approach your neighbours, friends and relatives. “Look I got a new business. I am getting about 3 out of 10 to join. I don’t mind you coming to the meeting and being on of the 7. It doesn’t matter you are my friend you will do me a favour. It is not important that you like it. It doesn’t matter that you do not buy my products.It doesn’t matter that you don’t listen. One of the reasons that I want you to hear the story is that a year from now if I am doing well, I do not want you say, ‘How come you never picked up the phone last year and told me, I never got a letter, an email, a call’.”
You do not want your friends to miss out, so give them an opportunity to refuse so that they can never, NEVER say “You call me a friend, you are making all this money, you never picked up the phone to tell me.”
” For 2 reasons, I want you to see what I am doing. A year from now if I am doing well, I can say, ‘I gave you the opportunity’. But also just as a favour come and be 1 of the 7. It doesn’t matter to me if you buy into it. But i need 10 to get three.”
“If you 1 of the 3 wonderful, if you at not, wonderful. It might matter to you. It does not matter to me. It matters to me because we are friends, it doesn’t matter with regard to my averages. Come to the meeting.
If you decide to get rich. Then just learn the law of averages and you are up and running.

Changing my Life
If you want to change your life and make the next two to three years totally different from the last five or more years here is what you have to do. I want to recap. It is not the blowing of the wind that determines your income. It is not the blowing of the wind that determines your fortune. Its the set of the sail. I have learnt a few ideas that I am going to share here that will drastically improve your life. I am counting myself in too.
It is not what happens. What happens, happens to everybody. The next ten years are going to like the last ten. The next season after spring is summer. I promise you that is not going to change. After day comes night. That is not going to change. Here is how the last 6,000 years reads. Opportunity mixed with difficulty. If we are going to be around another 6,000 years it going to be the same reading. opportunity mixed with difficulty. Sometimes there seems to be more opportunity than difficulty and sometimes there seems to be more difficulty than opportunity but the mix is not going to change.
After expansion comes recession. But after recession comes expansion. Not to thinks so is naive. Once you got a little of this drama of life settled then you know exactly what to do. You know exactly what to anticipate so you ban be ready.
Philosophy of Changing for Things to Change
For things to change you have to change. I was hoping the government would change and taxes would change, the economics would change and my boss would change and my new boss would be more generous. I wish for everything to change. My mentor says “No, Joseph, for things to change for you, you have to change.” Leadership has to be developed
Don’t wish it was easier wish you were better. I understand this and now I know the course of my life will change. At 55 I’ve got some changes to make in my life. I have joined Success University to learn the principles.
Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. You don’t need less problems, you simply need more skills.
Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom. Accept the challenge for you cannot grow without challenges. you can’t get rich without a challenge. You can’t fly without gravity. You have to understand the challenge that is the key. Develop wisdom to overcome the challenge. Don’t wish for less challenges but more wisdom.
